The Governor of Warrap State, Gen Francis Marial, concluded a one day, peace and security tour in Tonj North County. The governor urged the community of Tonj County to end the ‘senseless violence and give a chance for peace to allow essential human services in the area to the vulnerable people to support them during this time when the region is experiencing severe flooding.
According to a statement from the governor’s press unit, the governor promised to end revenge killings and cattle raiding as per the Green Book.
“The internal conflicts and revenge killing are the result of the displacement and destruction of many villages in Warrap State. As such my administration is ready to do whatever necessary to end the revenge killing, cattle raiding and internal conflicts in accordance with Green Book which legally categorized all the steps of capital offense cases like murder, cattle raiding and rapping which are commonly committed by criminals in Warrap State,” the governor said, and added:
“It’s the collective responsibility of all the local chiefs to cooperate with the state government and report all the criminals and any other forms of crime in the area to eliminate criminals, which is the only option that will allow the permanent peace to prevail in Warrap State.”
The governor formed the committee to investigate and address the community conflict in Lou area of Alabeek Payam.
The committee is fully mandated and ordered to move to the area as soon as possible. The local chiefs affirmed their commitment and corporation with the state government to end all forms of crimes and violence in Warrap State.
During the visit, the governor was accompanied by state advisors, ministers, and MPS.
