The duo agreed to find an amicable solution to the issues facing Central Equatoria State, including land grabbing and cattle-related issues affecting the farming communities within the state.

Governor Adil said developing and raising awareness about clear land policies and acquisition in the state— as outlined in the Land Act—was critical in addressing the rampant land grabbing issues.

He made the statement during the swearing-in of the newly appointed state officials yesterday at the state secretariat.

Adil directed the newly appointed Chairperson of the State Lands Commission, Frederick Lako, to work collectively with the State Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Public Utilities to address land issues at hand.

‘‘You need to work hard and together, [and] you need to formulate and take up necessary awareness and raise clear land policies and acquisition of land in the state as stipulated in the Land Act.” This is the work you are expected to do,” he ordered.

He also directed the minister of youth and sports to empower the youth and develop them in all aspects, noting her docket is the bridge between society and the government, where cultural values and heritage need to be developed and protected for generational purposes.

The governor further urged the State Ministers of General Education and Instructions, Finance and Planning to urgently address the issues of teachers as soon as possible.

“You need to convene an emergency meeting with the state teachers’ union to handle the matter holistically rather than politicising it, noting that any person found agitating [for] industrial action shall be met with a swift response and the decision reached upon shall be final.”

On behalf of the newly inaugurated members, the Minister of Culture, Youths and Sports, Rita Dominic Jada, congratulated the leadership for the trust bestowed upon them and assured the leadership of their readiness to serve the people of Central Equatoria State to the best of their abilities and accordingly.

On Thursday, VP Igga and Governor Adil agreed to work together to address the CES crisis.

The two called for the maximum level of cooperation from the civilian population, especially in dealing with the predominant issue of land grabbing. They said that the public should strictly follow the rightful procedures for the acquisition of land as enshrined in the legal documents of this country.”
