The Central Equatoria State government has rolled out the blueprints for 2022 with a promise to strengthen the education and health sectors.

State governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony said there is optimism that the economic sector is going to improve to allow the development of the two sectors that remain to be the priority of the state.

“There has been an achievement in the area of peace, and this will give us a chance to work hard in the area of development, especially in the health and education sectors. We are also working hard to make sure that all the refugees return home by next year, “Adil said while giving a New Year message to the people of Central Equatorial State and the entire country.

“We have no time to waste. We are struggling to put all the necessary tools for peace together. There will be no bloodshed, and it has come to an end,” he added.

Adil emphasised that with the achievement of peace, they [leaders] are going to focus on development, and they hope with confidence that South Sudan will not return to war.

“Having peace in the Central Equatoria State and sustainable harmony and peace among the people is also the same for the entire South Sudanese [population],” he said.

At the beginning of this month, Adil promised to redouble civil servants’ salaries and encouraged employees in the health and education sectors to work hard for the development of the state and the entire country. He did not mention when the increment would come into effect.

In June 2021, the Chinese government, through its embassy in Juba, promised to improve the development of Central Equatoria State in the sectors of health, education, and roads.

The Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan, Hua Ning, said the government of China was committed to supporting the infrastructural sector through its development cooperation.

He stated that education, health, and a road network in the state would improve the socio-economic development of the people of the state as well as the entire South Sudanese population.

He said at the beginning of 2021, the Chinese construction company met Adil to discuss a construction plan of the Gudele –Rock City road to Custom to avoid traffic congestion in Gudele One.
