The Azande King His Majesty Atoroba Peni Rikito Gbudue, and Bishop Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio (CDTY) arrived in Maridi ahead of a memorial prayer for the late family members of Africano Mande Gedima.
This marks the King’s first visit to Maridi since his coronation three years ago.
The King, accompanied by Prince Mboribamu Tombura Renzi and several kingdom ministers (Abanyaki), received a warm welcome from Africano Mande Gedima, the patron of the Africano Mande Foundation.
The memorial prayer is scheduled for today (Saturday) at the Africano Mande Gedima’s Palm Valley residence.
The ceremony aims to honor the lives of Gedima Binyiri Nyanyua Kagande (Africano Mande’s grandfather), John Mande Gedima (his father), Gister Asopa Mande (his mother), and several siblings.
Speaking to the media, Africano Mande Gedima expressed gratitude for the presence of the esteemed guests.
“This gathering not only honors the memory of my loved ones but also symbolizes unity and strength among our communities.”
“I am truly humbled by the support and solidarity shown by His Majesty the King, Bishop Hiiboro, and all distinguished guests,” Gedima stated.
However, Bishop Hiiboro emphasized on the importance of unity in times of remembrance.
“Such moments remind us of the bonds that hold us together as a people. It is through solidarity and compassion that we find healing and strength,” the Bishop remarked.
