Azande King, His Majesty Atoroba Peni Rikito Gbudue, on Wednesday met with the Central Equatoria State Governor, Augustino Jadalla, to explore avenues for strategic cooperation.

The discussions, held at the State Secretariat in Juba, focused on fostering partnerships in trade, agriculture and governance, with an emphasis on mutual development and cultural preservation.

Governor Jadalla reaffirmed his unwavering support for the Azande Kingdom, highlighting the crucial role of traditional leadership in governance, justice and peacebuilding.

“Traditional leaders are the custodians of our heritage. Their engagement in governance enhances peace and unity, ensuring that communities thrive,” Governor Jadalla said.

King Peni, on his part, commended Jadalla’s leadership and contributions to South Sudan’s liberation struggle. He also congratulated the governor for maintaining the trust of President Salva Kiir and lauded his commitment to strengthening ties with the Azande people.

Governor Jadalla has previously showed commitment and support to the Azande Kingdom. Recently, when the kingdom marked its third anniversary, the governor donated over nine million South Sudanese Pounds (SSP9Million) towards the construction of the Azande Royal Palace in Bazungua Payam, Yambio County. This gesture underscored his recognition of the kingdom’s cultural and political significance.

Speaking after the meeting, Prince Mboribamu Renzi Tombura, Paramount Chief of Tombura County, described the discussions as highly productive.

“The King’s primary mission is peace. Additionally, he sought to engage the Governor on matters concerning the Azande community in Juba and explore avenues for mutual cooperation,” Prince Tombura said.

With vast fertile lands within the Azande Kingdom, the partnership presents an opportunity for increased agricultural production and economic growth. Leveraging support from Central Equatoria, the kingdom could see new investments in commercial farming, infrastructure development, and cultural tourism.

The meeting sets the stage for future joint initiatives, marking a significant step toward enhancing cooperation between the Azande Kingdom and the Central Equatoria State government. The leaders expressed optimism that the collaboration would empower communities and drive regional stability and development.

During a courtesy visit to the Bank of South Sudan (BoSS) headquarters in Juba on Tuesday, the King met with the bank’s Governor Hon. Johnny Ohisa Damian, where he formally requested the financial institution to extend its services to Yambio, where traders and government institutions face challenges due to limited banking access.

“The Azande Kingdom is committed to restoring South Sudanese cultural values, promoting peace, and strengthening agriculture. Our people need financial support to fully utilize the region’s fertile lands and contribute to the national economy,” King Atoroba stated.
