The first edition of Black is Original modelling fashion show ended with a promise for inspiring the fashion industry in the country to meet the global standards.

The black and fashion show attracted many audiences across Juba and from neighbouring countries like Uganda, Kenya and Sudan and many others.

The colourful first-ever edition of Black is Original fashion show was graced by the adornment of some trendy wares that left the audience drooling even for more thanks to the organiser, Novic Model Management.

Both males and females participated as they showcased their modelling prowess and inspired the audience with fashion skills.

The top East African designer, Abryanz, and the top South Sudanese model, Ayen Telar, were some of the notable fashion gurus that graced the event.

In his brief speech at the event Novic Joe, the founder and the head of Black is Original model fashion, thanked all the sponsors of the event and the fashion fans saying without them the event would not have been a success.

According to Joe, who is an ex-model, the event fashion was organised to bring the youth and fashion designers together and showcase their talents. This was meant to bring about peer-to-peer learning between these two groups.

“Black is original, is all about the skin you have,’’ he said.

He added: ‘‘Simple black can never be replaced, but you can change to be brown, or white or whatever skin one wants to be, but no one can be changed from white to black,” he emphasised.

“You can be whatever, colour you wished to be, even yellow, red, white but you can never be black,’’ he said, as he commented that the event was to ‘‘bring the youth and fashion designers in the industry together’’  on account ‘‘your colour is your fashion and you should be proud of the colour you have.”

Meanwhile, Peter Woodman from the Spectrum Advertising Company which is one of the sponsors of the event described it as one of the colourful ones in the country.

“It was something amazing, beautiful, and colourful and perhaps one of first-ever fashion in the country. I really like their organization how they organized their event was really good,” Mr Woodman revealed.

He added that what he admired about the event was that the turn up was large, adding that he wished such an event would be organised monthly in order to bring youth together.

“We really had the opportunity as a youth to chat among ourselves and to the elders in the event.”

He added that it achieved its purpose by bringing together models and designers, and remained relevant to the country’s dream of creating job opportunities.

The event was sponsored by many companies including Bros Resort, Equity Bank, Digitel, M-Gursh, Classic FM, RAK Media Group, The City Review, Uganda Airline, Nice Company, Spectrum Advertising Company and others.
