The Central Equatoria State government has promised to swiftly advance the Equator Broadcasting Cooperation (EBC) from a manual to a digitalised system.
This came after government officials from the Ministry of Information returned from Dubai after authorising the Future Art Broadcasting Trading Company to equip the stations digitally.
The Minister of Information and Communication, Dr Andruga Mabe Saverio, said they are expecting the equipment to arrive in Juba by next week.
He said once the equipment is brought, both EBC radio and television will be operated digitally.
“The company needed some money, and the governor advanced some of the money that was sent.” As I talked, the company had already assembled the equipment ready to be transported to Juba, ” Dr Mabe told The City Review in an exclusive interview yesterday.
“The company will bring their staff who will come and train our staff on how to use the equipment professionally because we expect both radio and television to start working digitally at the end of January,” he added.
Dr Mabe did not disclose how much it cost the state to purchase the digital equipment from Dubai but said the company was still demanding some amount of money to be paid.
On Tuesday, Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony made some changes in the management of the EBC, including recomposing the board of directors to improve the quality of radio and television services.
He said the state officials, with the help of the governor, thought that the management of EBC was technical and required those with experience in journalism.
Those who have been reconstituted and appointed include Victor Keri Wani as a Technical Advisor for Equator Broadcasting Corporation (EBC), Oliver Modi Philps, as Acting Managing Director of Equator Broadcasting Corporation, and Margaret Peter Abudi as Chairperson, Margaret Peter Abudi as Deputy Chairperson as Muki Batali, Board Member, Anna Nimiriano as Board Member, Rejoice Tio Samson as Board Member, Faraj Juma Zaid as Board Member, and Stanlaus Tombe as Board Member.
