The Governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, H.E. Simon Ober Mawut, on Friday chaired an Extended Extraordinary Council of Ministers meeting that included all State Directors General, Commissioner for State Revenue Authority and a representative from the development partners (UNDP) to deliberate on the State Fiscal Year 2025/2026 plans and budget.
The session was convened in response to a directive from the national government instructing States and Administrative Areas to prepare their annual budgets ahead of a national budget workshop to be held soon in Juba.
These preparations are essential for the National Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning as it works to formulate a comprehensive and functional national budget to ensure the effective operation of both state and national institutions.
A delegation from NBGS is scheduled to present the state’s Fiscal Year 2025/2026 plans at the upcoming workshop in Juba later this month.
In his address during the opening of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, President Salva Kiir has called upon members of parliament to endorse the 2025/2026 Budget after the previous budget expired a month ago.
Addressing the August House, the President called on members to endorse the budget to reflect prospects for economic growth, delivery of essential services, and political stabilization through credible elections.
