The Governor of Northern Bhar el Ghazal Charles Madut Akol has directed newly appointed state officials to urgently prioritize service delivery in health, education, and road infrastructure while upholding strict standards of transparency and accountability in public institutions.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony at the state secretariat, Governor Madut said his administration will focus on practical results that directly improve the lives of citizens across Northern Bahr el Ghazal

“Our priority must be service to the people. Hospitals must function effectively, our children must access quality education, and our roads must connect communities to opportunities. I expect transparency and accountability in every institution,” the Governor declared.

Governor Madut emphasized that access to healthcare, quality education, and reliable road connectivity are the pillars of development in the state, noting that poor infrastructure and weak public services have long slowed progress. He pledged that the new leadership team must reverse that trend.

Health facilities, he said, must be equipped and managed responsibly to serve vulnerable populations, while schools should ensure consistent teaching and learning standards. He further stressed that improved road networks are essential for trade, mobility, and access to essential services.

“We cannot speak about development without addressing roads, hospitals, and schools, these are not luxuries they are basic rights of our people,” he added.

In a firm tone, the Governor warned against mismanagement of public resources and called for financial discipline across all departments.

“Transparency is not optional, public office is a responsibility. The people of Northern Bahr el Ghazal deserve honesty, efficiency, and visible results,” he said.

State Minister of Information Gabriel Deng announced the names of the newly appointed officials during the ceremony, outlining their respective roles in key government institutions, including the State Revenue Authority.

The governor urged the officials to work as a united team and to justify the trust placed in them through integrity and performance.

Among those sworn in was the newly appointed Commissioner of the Northern Bahr el Ghazal State Revenue Authority, who expressed gratitude to the governor and pledged to strengthen revenue collection systems.

“I take this opportunity to thank the Governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal, Lieutenant General Charles Dut Akol, for the trust and confidence he has bestowed upon me. We will ensure proper revenue management to support service delivery in our state,” the commissioner said.

The commissioner emphasized that improved revenue administration would be critical in financing key development projects in health, education, and infrastructure.

Governor Madut echoed that sentiment, noting that without accountable revenue management, development efforts cannot be sustained.

“Effective revenue collection and responsible spending are the backbone of service delivery, we must protect public funds and use them wisely for the benefit of our citizens,” he stated.

The ceremony signals what the governor described as a “new phase of responsible governance” aimed at restoring public confidence and accelerating development across Northern Bahr el Ghazal.
