United States-Africa committee of the African Energy Chamber is expected to host South Sudan’s minister of petroleum in Washington, D.C. on Thursday.
The Minister of Petroleum, Puot Kang Chuol, will be hosted at a power breakfast on December 16, 2021, at the Army and Navy Club, 90117th St NW, Washington, D.C.
Chuol will discuss the opportunities for U.S. investors in South Sudan in the areas of oil and gas and the energy sector, the African Energy Chamber has revealed in a press release on Tuesday.
The discussion will be driven by the heads of different petroleum institutions in the United States, including Jude Kearney (Managing Partner), Chief Economic Officer of the American Petroleum Institute, Dr Sara Vakhshouri, founder and president of SVB Energy International, and C. Derek Campbell, the Executive Chairman of African Metals Group.
According to managing partner, Dean Foreman, and Chief Economic Officer of the American Petroleum Institute, Jude Kearney, the discussion will reflect the critical and profitable role that U.S. companies can play in building African nations through their respective energy industries.
Mr Kearney said there are opportunities in South Sudan and Africa to ‘‘advance the agenda of sustainability and opportunities that may serve to solidify for a long term using its natural resources as a vital transitional energy source while repositioning the U.S. as a primary partner for South Sudan’s energy development’’.
According to the United States and African energy committee, the interaction with most energy companies focuses on how the oil companies’ US investors would contribute the oil and gas money to the country’s society and economy.
During the power breakfast, the minister will also focus on job creation, climate change, and energy poverty in South Sudan and provide updates on oil field licenses, services, and developments in the country.
According to the statement, they will also provide insight into the country’s experiences with U.S. sanctions, including the impact that such restrictions have on their effort to promote greater investment in the African nation.
