The hot Monday afternoon saw one of the country’s oldest teams, Malakia SC Juba meet Lion Hunters in the South Sudan Premier League fixture.
Lion Hunters came into the match with high expectations, as many spectators though they could pick points from the match owing to their good recent performance, but the tide took the other way.
Malakia took the lead in the early stages of the first half through a free kick from Khasim Mugoya. The team’s players showed some level of dominance in possession.
Malakia extended their dominance in the second half, as the home team, Lion Hunters, struggled to respond.
It was Lion Hunters agony in the hands of Malakia, as they failed to pick a point at the end of the match, with the final whistle ending at 1:0 in favour of Malakia.
The result marked Lion Hunters’ fourth loss of the season in the five matches played so far.
With the win, Malakia board and coaching staff can now breathe a sigh of relief from the recent losses of three games in a row.
They will welcome Olympic FC with renewed confidence in their next campaign.
