The Governor of Eastern Equatoria state, Louis Lobong Lojore has condemned the raiding of cattle belonging to businessmen by unknown criminals in Torit town.

He called for the immediate return of the raided cattle.

On Thursday, unknown criminals attacked the businessmen’s kraal at Safari-link along the Torit-Juba road and raided about 35 heads of cattle.

Addressing the citizens on The Voice of Eastern Equatoria State radio about the security situation in the state, Lobong questioned the acts and said those were cattle used for meat in the whole of Torit town.

“This evening (Thursday), I heard that the cattle for our business people which are normally being slaughtered to the citizens of Torit town, have been raided,” he said.

He said the cattle were being brought from all areas by the businessmen for sale to meet the basic needs of their families.

Lobong urged the chiefs within Torit County to ensure the smooth return of the raided business cattle before the government gets to trace the criminals.

“I want to tell the chiefs around Torit here that the cattle should be returned and we are going to search for the criminals wherever they are and arrest them.”

“If they don’t want the government to follow them, they should return the cattle before,” he stated.

Lobong said it was wrong to raid the businessmen’s cattle meant to serve the town with meat.

He strongly condemned the act and called on the Torit County commissioner together with his local chiefs and the youth to ensure the cattle were returned.

“This issue, I want to say it in a loud voice, we don’t want this issue, I condemned it in a strongest term possible and the cattle have to be returned.”

On Friday, Torit slaughterhouse did not have any cattle to slaughter for the residents as the expected cattle were all raided over the night.

“I want to tell the chiefs around Torit here that the cattle should be returned, and we are going to search for the criminals wherever they are and arrest them,” said Louis Lobong, Governor of Eastern Equatoria state.
