Eastern Equatoria State Governor, Louis Lobong, has dismissed allegations labeled against him by the Pibor Information Minister that he was mobilising to attack the Greater Pibor.
In a statement released by the governor’s press secretary, Oringa John Godfrey said the office has learned of the accusations with great dismay, and described the accusation as false.
“The office of His Excellency, Louis Lobong Lojore, has learned with great dismay about the accusation by the Pibor Administrative Area toward His Excellency. The baseless accusation was on claims that there was youth mobilization in Eastern Equatoria State to attack greater Pibor, areas of Jebel Boma and Maura.”
“The accusation was made by the minister of information in greater Pibor, Oleyo Akwer Nyalus,” Oringa explained.
He stated that the governor has no intention of creating conflict or mobilizing to destabilize the peace within and with the neighboring communities from other states.
He described the accusation as baseless and unprofessional moves, calling on the Pibor authority to refrain from such initiatives to maintain peace and unity among the neighboring communities.
“We want to make it clear to the people of Greater Pibor. This baseless accusation is unprofessional and we condemned it in the strongest term possible for defaming His Excellency on social media,” he said.
“We call on them to refrain from such accusations and should not repeat itself,” Oringa warned.
According to the Eastern Equatoria State government, Pibor has been the only neighboring area disturbing the peace in the region ranging from child abduction, killing as well as cattle raiding.
In April, people lost there lives, a majority of them women and children, and huge herds of cattle stolen by the suspected criminals from the Greater Pibor Administrative Area in Kauto Payam of Kapoeta East County, Eastern Equatoria state.
Also, in 2022, another attack happened in the area, which saw scores of lives lots and animals stolen.
