The Governor of Eastern Equatoria State, Louis Lobong Lojore, has called on crime suspects to surrender saying the law will soon catch up with them.
According to Aliandro Lotok, Press Secretary in the governor’s office, the warning came after a criminal gang shot one person dead along the Kapoeta-Torit road last week when some traders brought goats for sale in Juba.
“This has been a warning from the governor to everyone who is involved in criminal activities before any arrest because the government will use all means to arrest those criminals,” he said, adding: “It was not only to the people who attacked the traders but to every criminal.’’
“The Chiefs, who are the local leaders, have agreed with the governor, and I think any person who committed any crime will be produced to face a court of law in the state,” he added.
On Monday, the governor tasked the local leadership of Hiyalla village to produce the criminals who attacked the traders along Kapotea-Torit road, or they are held answerable for the act.
“The governor also declared the dry season to hunt for criminals who have been attacking people, especially traders along the roads in the state,” said Lotok.
November 2021, Lobong declared his commitment to working with all the stakeholders to maintain security in the area. He called for a joint effort to build stable peace and a prosperous Eastern Equatoria State.
They said earlier that they would strive to work with all the stakeholders to strengthen local government which is the custodian of law and order in the state so that there is stability.
