The Central Equatoria State Minister of Gender, Child and Social Welfare, Zendia Eluzai Abu, along with the Minister of Health, Nejua Juma Mursal, on Thursday, handed over dignity kits and emergency medical supplies to Morobo Primary Health Care Centre.

The medical kits handed over included antimalarial and antibiotic drugs

Addressing women at the Morobo PHCC, Zendia said that with the help of partners, her ministry had acquired dignity kits containing essential hygiene materials and sanitary pads for displaced women and girls.

“We came quickly to Morobo because we know many of you were displaced and left behind most of your belongings. That’s why we brought the sanitary kits,” said Zendia.

For her part,. Najwa said the emergency medical drugs will serve the displaced persons from the three payams of Panyume, Kimba, and Gulumbi at the county’s Primary Health Care Center.

She assured continued coordination with the National Ministry of Health to ensure additional drug supplies.

“I would like to thank H.E. the Governor for standing with us, and all the health workers. We inspected the facility and are pleased to see that it is very clean,” She stated.

Mustafa Duku, the Clinical Officer in Charge at Morobo County Primary Health Care Center, appreciated the state’s leadership and noted that the supplied drugs and dignity kits will significantly support the displaced and vulnerable women in Morobo.

“One of the challenges we face here is the lack of a mortuary and surgeons. We ask that this be taken into consideration,” said Duku.

The residents in Morobo are facing a dire situation following recent clashes between the government forces and the SPLA-IO in the area.

Several people have been displaced and others have sought refuge in neighboring Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo.
