Nile city overcome the odds of a dry season to get their first win on Monday. The long wait, which had seen many write them off, was finally sealed during their match against Young Star, where they emerged victorious with a 4:0 win.
This brought some relief to a team that struggled throughout the campaign with abysmal performance. True to their spirited fight, the club capped the scoresheet with an astonishing display at the Juba National Stadium.
Star player Bakoyego combined efforts with Deng Akwach to create a bonding sizzling sensation.
Akwach opened the scoring on the 2nd minute to hand Nile city the lead in the early stages of the first half, a brilliant finish from the South Sudanese footballer.
Their opponent, Young Star’s weak defense was to blame for not containing Deng, who ended up penetrating through the thicket to score a second goal, putting Nile City up, at 2:0.
Bakoyego turn came at the 29th minute, when he tested Young Star defense vulnerability by taking his on chance, which bore the third fruit for the Nile- at 3:0, making it a hard nut to crack for the Torit-based side.
Bakayego was at it again, when he attempted, and scored his brace for the day- pushing Nile City four up (4:0).
The remarkable performance from the whole team, puts the icing in the cake for a squad that lost almost every game in their last 20 matches, winning only their last game since the beginning of the season.
The win extends Nile City’s points tally to 12; not strong enough to save them from sitting at the bottom slot in the South Sudan Premier League currently.
