The Secretary-General of the Jonglei State Workers’ Trade Union, Samuel Majier Loch, has said the Jonglei State National Security Service has pledged to clear the medical bills of his son, who was hurt when the security stormed his residence in Bor town.

Majier said his son ran away from home after he got frightened and believed that the security men had come to arrest him.

He said the young boy spent one night in the bush after that and returned home with injuries on his foot and a complaint of chest pain he sustained after falling.

“My son returned home after spending one day in the bush. He came back with some injuries, and I took him to the hospital. He is now under treatment, “he explained.

“But when I talked to the national security, they asked me to complete the treatment of my son and take the bill to them to pay the money for my son’s medication. My son said he fell down while he was being chased by the members of the security and has chest pain. I want to take him for a scan to see if he has a major medical condition. ” Majier stressed.

Last week the state civil servants went to the street after the state government diverted the civil servants’ allowances to fund the state security sector.

Teenager goes missing

Prior to last week’s demonstration by the Jonglei State Civil Servants, Majier reported that his house was surrounded by security personnel and that his 12-year-old son had gone missing.

“I am Samuel Majier Loch, Secretary-General of Workers’ Trade Union in Jonglei State. I am under threat this night. My son had even been taken. I do not know where he is now, but I am in hiding, “he said.

“Members of security came to my house and tried to take me somewhere, but I managed to escape, but my son, who is 12 years old, was taken away,” he said.

Majier said the search for him was in connection with the demonstrations, adding that his wife and children were threatened by the security personnel.

“I got rumours early that they would come to my home, so I had to sleep outside my residence,” he explained yesterday morning.

The chairman of Jonglei Civil Society Network (JCSN), Bol Deng Bol, confirmed that Majier’s son was still missing, adding that he might have been scared by the security personnel who surrounded their compound.

“That act remains condemned. Majier’s son is still missing, his father was on the run. “During the day, he was coordinating demonstrations, so I suspect he did not find time to report this case to the police,” Bol said.

The Police Commissioner in Jonglei State, Maj Gen Joseph Mayen Akoon, said he was not informed about the incident, adding that some people make up stories to suit their interests when things like strikes are taking place.
