The Ministry of Petroleum has confirmed the arrival of South Sudan’s crude oil at the marine terminal for oil flow and export to the global market.

This was disclosed in a meeting between a delegation from the Ministry of Petroleum and representatives from DPOC, GPOC, SPOC, and NilePet in Port Sudan on Wednesday.

The meeting, attended by Sudanese petroleum authorities in Port Sudan, reviewed the modalities of oil transportation, export procedures, legal frameworks and fees.

Speaking during the meeting, Advisor to the Ministry of Petroleum, Mohammed Lino, confirmed that the crude oil has successfully arrived at the marine terminal and is ready for export.

“Also, I grabbed this opportunity to congratulate BAPCO for the big achievement that we all followed in the last few days by having the crude oil from South Sudan reach the marine terminal safely and being ready actually, to export,” said Lino.

“This is good news, because we in South Sudan have been, since last year, staying in difficulties because of the loss of PETRONAS as all of you know, it was the major share of the crude oil production in South Sudan which could hunt it for a whole one year,” he said.

Mohammed Salah Osman, the Chairperson of the Sudanese Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, assured the public that preparations are underway for the first crude oil export ship meant to leave the marine terminal for the international markets.

“One contractor to recover this growth. They started already. We have a contract now with some contractors to recover this growth from buying trucks,” he said.

Meanwhile, the BAPCO confirmed that the current oil flow stands at 110,000 barrels per day from Palm Station One in South Sudan.

“We have, you know, experienced some increment in four points from 36 to 39. Actually, I would like to address all parties that if you continue like this, with low flow rate, we may experience some problems, particularly in winter time. Practically, and operationally, we’ll have,” he added.
