The presidential palace in Juba yesterday witnessed a bustling diplomatic day, as President Salva Kiir bid farewell to four newly appointed ambassadors tasked with representing South Sudan abroad.
He also welcomed two new ambassadors from the United Kingdom and India.
President Kiir firewalled the recently appointed ambassadors Anthony Kon assigned to Kenya, Maurice Natalie to China, Lily Adhieu to Qatar, and Jacqueline Natibe to Ghana.
During the meeting, the president emphasized the importance of strengthening diplomatic relations with international partners, stating.
“You must work diligently to represent our nation’s interests and enhance cooperation in the fields of economy, politics, and culture.”
For his part, Anthony Kon, the former ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt said, “We received clear directives from His Excellency the President to focus on effective diplomacy that serves South Sudan’s goals.”

Ambassador David Ashley said “The United Kingdom and South Sudan share long-standing historical relations.”
He stressed his country’s resolve to support peace and development so that South Sudan may reap the fruits of its hard-won independence.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Anil Nautiyal expressed his readiness to collaborate with the government to strengthen mutual cooperation between New Delhi and Juba.
Both ambassadors, Ashley and Nautiyal , pledged to enhance bilateral relations and expand cooperation with South Sudan across various areas of shared interest.
