The South Sudan Cup quarter finals brought together two teams, Rainbow and Kator, into the fourth-round qualifiers of the championship.

It’s the second time the two teams are facing each other, the first encounter just a fortnight ago, where the match controversially ended 10 minutes to the final whistle as it got dark and the game could not continue due to unclear vision.

On Monday, however, the two teams met in the clear, with each side determined to qualify and join the likes of Munuki and Jamus in the last four of the cup competition.

The first half produced a goalless draw as the two teams played tactical football.

The game was tight in the second half, defensively. Both teams-maintained discipline. A solid rock defence was witnessed from both sides, as each prevented goals from penetrating, either side.

However, in the 59^th minute, Rainbow got the better side of it, penetrating the Kator defense to slot in a goal. The team would then resort to solid-rock defending, which helped them tenderly care and hold their goal until the final whistle, emerging victorious.

Rainbow will be keeping tabs on the match between Malakia and Rock City, and play against the winner from the match.

Despite the loss to Rainbow, Kator coach has done so well since appointment, losing once to the rejuvenated Citizen.

They have had a decent run of form since that loss, winning their last five games in all competitions. In comparison, Rainbow has not had as much a good performance as Kator, losing three consecutive games in a row since the start of the league.
