The sports financing conference, which aimed to unlock the potential of sports in South Sudan, ended yesterday in Juba with calls to invest in sports activities.
Speaking at the closing of the event, Ambassador of South Africa to South Sudan, Mohlode Moufhe said the country has to invest in the national teams to compete in the national and international competition.
“The national association should have funds to also organise international tournaments in the country as well should have professional trainers for these associations and include students from universities and schools since talent is at the school level,” he said.
He gave the example of South Africa, and urged leaders not only to limit themselves to international competitions but also to do more home competitions to keep the teams active.
“The South Sudan National Association and South Africa National Association can still collaborate for better sports despite the economic challenges.”
