The Governor of Warrap State, Magok Magok Deng, conducted an inspection of the Kuajok-Wau highway, particularly the section between Kuajok Town and Angui, to assess the road’s condition after heavy rains left motorists stranded, causing disruptions to transportation and trade.

Governor Magok emphasized the importance of a reliable road network, stating: “A robust road infrastructure is essential for economic development, as it stimulates trade and reinforces security across the State.” He acknowledged the challenges posed by seasonal floods and pledged the government’s commitment to improving road conditions to enhance connectivity and economic stability.

Accompanying the Governor on the inspection were the Minister of Roads and Bridges, Hon. Amiir Amet Kuol, alongside key government officials, including the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, the Minister of Information and Communication Services, the Minister of Lands, Housing and Public Utilities, and the Town Mayor.

During the visit, Hon. Amiir Amet Kuol expressed gratitude for the Governor’s proactive approach. “The Governor’s commitment to scrutinizing internal road projects is commendable. His leadership is crucial in ensuring that road infrastructure remains a priority,” she said. She further highlighted the contributions of local communities and development partners in mitigating flood damage.

“With the help of our development partners, the communities have made significant efforts by digging dykes, which prevent roads from being submerged and safeguard households from floodwater. Their efforts are invaluable in preserving our infrastructure.”

Hon. Amiir reaffirmed the Ministry of Roads and Bridges’ dedication to collaborating with the State leadership and construction companies. “Our Ministry will work closely with the State leadership to ensure that ongoing key road projects are prioritized and completed in due time. We understand the challenges, but we are committed to overcoming them through collective effort,” she assured.

The inspection provided an opportunity for officials to assess the impact of heavy rains and strategize on long-term solutions. The Governor emphasized that infrastructure development is not only about road maintenance but also about fostering economic growth and ensuring the safety of the people. “Good roads mean better access to markets, health facilities, and education centers. They are the backbone of development, and we must ensure they remain in good condition,” he remarked.

Local residents and road users welcomed the Governor’s visit, hoping it would result in tangible improvements. “We appreciate the government’s attention to this issue. The condition of the road affects our daily lives, and we need sustainable solutions,” said one resident from Angui.

The State government’s commitment to improving road infrastructure aligns with its broader agenda of economic growth, security, and community development. The inspection serves as a reminder of the importance of proactive leadership in addressing infrastructural challenges. With cooperation from local communities, development partners, and construction companies, Warrap State aims to enhance its road network and mitigate future disruptions caused by heavy rains.

The Governor’s Press Unit reaffirmed that the administration remains steadfast in its mission to improve infrastructure, ensuring that the people of Warrap State can travel safely and conduct their economic activities without hindrance.
