Authorities in Warrap State have launched a widespread cholera vaccination campaign. The event, launched at Kuajok Freedom Square, was graced by the Undersecretary of Health, Dr. Anin and his team from Juba.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister of Cabinet Affairs Agem Akotdit, who represented the state governor, pledged the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare access and tackling public health crises.

“With the introduction of this vaccine, we are taking a crucial step towards preventing cholera and protecting our communities,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Undersecretary of Ministry Health, Dr. Anin, highlighted the campaign’s importance in saving lives and preventing future outbreaks.

“This initiative reflects our unwavering commitment to health and wellness. We urge all residents to participate and ensure that everyone gets vaccinated,” he stated.

This large-scale vaccination effort follows a recent cholera outbreak that severely impacted several parts of Warrap State and South Sudan, raising significant public health concerns.

Over the past months, cholera has claimed several lives and placed an immense strain on health facilities.

Factors such as inadequate sanitation and limited access to clean water have exacerbated the crisis, making vaccination an urgent necessity.

Community representatives voiced their strong support for the campaign, recognizing its role in fostering resilience and improving public health.

Many residents expressed relief and optimism, viewing the vaccination drive as a crucial measure to mitigate the risks associated with cholera.

The campaign is set to continue over the coming weeks, with mobile health teams deployed across Warrap State to ensure comprehensive coverage. Health workers will travel from community to community, ensuring that all eligible individuals receive the vaccine.

Authorities have reassured the public of the vaccine’s safety and effectiveness, encouraging widespread participation.

With this vaccination drive, Warrap State is taking a decisive step towards a healthier future, setting a precedent for proactive public health measures in South Sudan.
