Authorities in Jonglei State on Monday condemned the recent killing of nine (9) people and injuries of four others in separate cattle raid incidences in the state.

The attacks happened in different sections of the state, including Dakriang, Motot Buma, Partet, Padiet, Pamai, villages of Uror County, Kuei village of Ayod County and Malieth-thoor of Bor County.

In a press statement released on Monday, Jonglei State Minister for Information, Nyamar Lony Thichot Ngundeng said a woman and her daughter were also abducted during the raid.

“Murle armed criminals attacked Kuei village, which is one hour Southwest of Ayod town, killed two women and abducted one woman and her daughter in Ayod County.” Said Nyamar

“They also took fourteen cows in Partet, Padiet Payam in Uror County last Wednesday night,” she added.

Nyamar condemned the killing and called on the greater Pibor Administrative Area to bring the offenders to book.

“The Government of Jonglei State condemns in the strongest terms possible, the continuous attacks, killings and abductions on the people of Jonglei State that are being carried out on daily basis,” the state minister said.

She urged the Government of GPAA to do all it takes to call back their youth from the areas of Jonglei State and to bring back the abducted woman.  

“Call back the armed youth who are terrorizing and causing havoc in Jonglei state to return to their areas in order to promote harmony and peaceful co-existence between the two neighbouring states.” said Nyamar.
