The handover was facilitated by both the leadership from Warrap and Unity States, which marks a significant step toward peace and cooperation.

“If someone did something good, he has to be appreciated,” Marup stated, expressing gratitude to Governor Magok Magok Deng of Warrap State for assigning him to oversee Twic County’s affairs and strengthen relations with Unity State.

The Governor of Warrap State worked closely with Unity State authorities to ensure the cattle were returned to their rightful owners.

“We talked with the people of Unity State, and the raided cattle will be returned,” Marup confirmed, adding that the promise made by Warrap’s governor had been fulfilled.

He praised Mayom County Commissioner James Lily Kuol, SSPDF generals, and community leaders.

“Without their help, we wouldn’t have been able to recover the cattle,” Marup acknowledged, specifically appreciating Gen. Mathew Puljang, elder Gai Machiek, and divisions 4, 2, and 11 of the SSPDF.

Commissioner Kuol of Mayom County played a crucial role by warning Twic County of an imminent attack.

“He called me and said that our community should take care of their properties and lives,” Marup recalled, highlighting the growing trust between the two communities.

The event underscored the commitment of Twic and Mayom Counties to peace and unity. “In the future, the community of Twic County and the community of Mayom County will plan how to meet and celebrate,” Marup announced, reaffirming that Twic County will support Mayom County’s needs in gratitude for their cooperation.

With the return of the cattle, local leaders see a promising future of security collaboration. “We want to live in peace and unity,” Marup said.

“I and my government stand firm to ensure that what was taken from us is paid back, as they did today.”

“In the future, the community of Twic County and the community of Mayom County will plan how to meet and celebrate,” acting commissioner of Twic County, John Mabior Marup, said.
