The Anglican Church of South Sudan, under the Juba Diocese, joined millions of Christians around the world in celebrating Palm Sunday with a colorful and prayerful procession led by youth.

Members of the Jol Wo Lieech Youth Ministry marched through the community carrying a large banner portraying the biblical entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.

Dressed in white shirts with green sashes marked by red crosses, the young participants symbolized peace, unity, and devotion.

Palm Sunday, observed a week before Easter, commemorates the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, where crowds welcomed Him with palm branches, shouting praises of “Hosanna.”

The procession in Juba reflected this global Christian tradition, as worshippers walked together singing and waving palm leaves, publicly expressing their faith.

The event also drew attention from local residents, highlighting the church’s active presence in community life.

Church leaders described the day as both celebratory and reflective, noting that it marks the beginning of the Holy Week—a period that leads Christians through the suffering, crucifixion, and resurrection of Christ.

The strong turnout of young people underscored the growing role of youth in shaping the spiritual future of the church in South Sudan.

Organizers said such participation is vital in promoting moral values, unity, and hope among the younger generation.

As believers across the country marked the occasion, the message of Palm Sunday remained clear: a call to humility, peace, and unwavering faith.
