The government of Central Equatoria State is set to launch an e-government system of governance in December 2021 to connect all the ministries and other public institutions in the state.

Andraga Severino Mabe, the state minister of information, said the government has signed a memorandum of understanding with Modern Approach Company (MAC) to initiate the operationalisation of the e-government system.

“We are planning to launch an e-government system and the e-government system so that it can be operationalised. It is electronic government to ease service delivery. E-government is necessary. The whole world is moving towards that and we see that Central Equatoria State should not be [left] behind” he said.

“It is Modern Approach Company that has signed the MoU with us and we are to review the MoU and give them the contract to sign with the state government.’’

The minister said the operationalisation of the system will commence in the first week of December, starting with the portfolio to connect all the ministries and other state government institutions.

“The operationalisation begins in the first week of December, and as I am talking, we have given them a room in the ministry of information, and we have made available a space for the technician from MAC company,” he pronounced.

Andraga said the Juba City Council and the state revenue authority (RA) have already launched the e-taxation system with different companies to operationalise the system.

“What is in the e-government is what we call the e-government portfolio. That means you connect all the ministries, all the institutions in this government. All should be digitalised with you in carrying out operations and functions, ” he explained the function of the system.

“We had approved an amount of money to refurbish and improve EBC radio and television so that they will move together as an institution of Central Equatoria State within the digitalised system of e-government and they will be the ears and eyes of our government.”.

Early this month, the minister told journalists in a press briefing that the government of Central Equatoria State approved $1.8 million for Equator broadcasting cooperation to purchase modern equipment for both the radio and television to improve its image.
