Governor of Central Equatoria State, Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, received leaders of the South Sudan Islamic Council (SSIC) at the State Government Secretariat in Juba on Friday.
According to a statement from the office of the governor, the discussions focused on strengthening cooperation, consolidating peaceful coexistence, and harmonizing joint efforts between the state government and the SSIC, particularly in the areas of education, health, and social development.
Governor Mojong emphasized the role of the SSIC in promoting social development. He affirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering with religious leaders to spread messages of peace, unity, and sustainable development throughout the state.
Speaking to the media following the meeting, the Secretary-General of the SSIC, Abdallah Baraj, affirmed the council’s readiness to work closely with the governor to support development initiatives. He also expressed his gratitude to President Salva Kiir Mayardit for appointing General Mujung to lead the state.
“We discussed the vital role of the SSIC in supporting the new governor’s programs and emphasized our close relationship with the SSCC in promoting interfaith harmony and peaceful coexistence,” Baraj stated. “We encouraged the governor to draw closer to God to gain the wisdom and strength necessary to govern effectively.”
Earlier, on Friday, the Archbishop of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church His Grace Elias Taban paid a courtesy visit to the Governor to congratulate him on his new position, while also held constructive discussions on strengthening cooperation between the Church and the State Government. Both leaders underscored the vital role of partnership in promoting peace, unity, and improved service delivery to the people of Central Equatoria State.
Archbishop Taban offered words of encouragement, prayers, and blessings to Governor Mujung, wishing him wisdom and strength in fulfilling his leadership mandate.
