Authority in Ruweng Administrative Area has arrested a fire brigade officer over the killing of a colleague in Abiemnhom County last week.

Speaking to The City Review, the area Police Commissioner, Maj Gen Yousif Abdalah Garang, confirmed that the suspect was arrested by police in Abiemnhom after he shot to death his colleague over a one-month salary.

“A dispute arose when a one-month salary was brought from Juba to Abiemnhom for all the organized forces and the fire brigade department,” Garang said.

He added the suspect, who was said not to be on the beneficiary list, was upset when the official tried to stop him from receiving the money, which resulted in conflict.

However, Garang said the security situation calmed after the intervention from the security personnel, adding that the culprit is under detention awaiting trial.
