At least five people were arrested by police for selling drugs in Bentiu IDP camp, Unity State, on Monday.

Speaking to The City review, David Matut Both, the Deputy Commander of the joint police in Bentiu IDP camp said the five suspects were in possession of hard drugs such as Cocaine, heroin, marijuana, and amphetamines, drugs used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

“Five people were arrested at their shops selling drugs known as Cocaine, heroin, marijuana, and amphetamines. These are some of the drugs that are classified under the category of substances that can be abused,” Both said, confirming that the suspects have been detained.

“We will send them to the police headquarters and further investigations will be conducted so that they tell us why such harmful substances are being sold to our people. After accomplishing all that, we will forward them to a mobile court that was established by the government of Unity State.”

The commissioner also stated that they will embark on a major crackdown to ensure they nab all the illegal and harmful substances such as Cocaine, heroin, marijuana, and amphetamines, which are being sold in the area.
