The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation assured the international community and the diplomatic mission of the security situation in the country amid the travel advisories issued by some foreign countries.

This comes after the U.S State Department issued a travel advisory on South Sudan, urging non-emergency staff to leave the country.

Addressing the media in Juba yesterday, Ambassador Apuk Ayuel Mayen, the spokesperson for the South Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said they have noted with concerns the recent travel advisories by some countries, but assured that the situation in the country remains calm and secure.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the Republic of South Sudan would like to reassure the international community on recent advisories issued by some countries. The situation in South Sudan is still calm and safe,” she said.  

Talking about the recent incident in Nasir, Ambassador Ayuel said the president, in his state of the nation address put it clear that the incident of March 4, 2025 in Nasir County, Upper Nile State was an isolated occurrence resulting from a misunderstanding during the routine re-deployment.

She continued that the government had taken all necessary measures to restore order, and the security forces are vigilant in their efforts to maintain peace throughout the country.

“His Excellency the President of the Republic reaffirmed his commitment to peace and stability,” Ambassador Ayuel stated.

She assured those planning to travel to South Sudan that the country is open and safe for visitors, investors, and development partners.

 “We encourage all the embassies accredited to South Sudan and the countries to rely on official sources for accurate information and want to reiterate that South Sudan remains a welcoming and secure country,” Ayuel remarked

The government called on regional and international partners to denounce this unlawful action and support South Sudan’s effort to achieve peace and stability.

She acknowledged the solidarity as well as condemnation already received from the international community regarding the Nasir incident.

It is noteworthy that the embassies of Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, the United Kingdom and the United States, in addition to the European Union condemned the last violence in Nasser

 Another statement from American embassy in South Sudan , ​ ordered the departure of its non -emergency employees from South Sudan.
