President Kiir sacks five EES officials
JUBA – President Salva Kiir on Thursday relieved five officials from Eastern Equatoria State government in a presidential decree read out on South Sudan Broadcasting Cooperation.
In a separate decree, President Kiir also made changes in the Eastern Equatoria revitalized government, removing and appointing the Advisor, Minister, and Members of the State independent commissions.
According to the decree, Abdullah Kapero Ameru was appointed as the State Advisor for Gender Child and Social Welfare who replaced Charles Lokonoi Ambrose. Meanwhile, the Minister of Health Patrick Lodinga was replaced by Lodai Pasqualino.
Kiir also sacked Emmanuel Lotuk Lokwar as a Member of the HIV/AIDs Commission and replaced him with Joseph Lokuta Betel; Kediza Clepant Rwong succeeded Akelo Florence John as the deputy chairperson of Relief and Rehabilitation Commission. Peter Lobey Todo who was a member of the Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation Commission was replaced by Elijah Nokale Lopuke.
No reason has been given for the changes after nearly five months when the officials were appointed to the revitalized state government in late February this year.
Change of roles
However, some sources on the ground said those officials removed from the positions were among the Members of Parliament sworn in on August 2, 2021.
Those affected by the changes were all from the ruling SPLM party.
Also, Kiir appointed David Charles as a Technical Expert to the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs
This was the latest in series of presidential decrees since the formation of the Reconstituted Transitional National Legislative Assembly.
On July 27, President sacked the deputy governor of Western Bahr el Ghazal State, Angelo Taban Biajo, and replaced him with Zacharia Joseph Garang.
On the same day, Kiir also revoked the appointment of an SPLM-IO Member of the Council of States, Simon Maguek GAi Majok, and also relieved Vienna Kakulye as a Technical Advisor to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology.
