A 70-year-old woman identified as Clementine Ileyo has passed on at Torit Hospital after sustaining a third-degree burn in a motorbike fire accident on Saturday.

In an interview with The City Review on Saturday, the in charge at Torit Civil Hospital Changa Thomas said the doctors had been trying their best to manage the situation as she was severely burnt.

“We tried to resuscitate because the whole body got burnt and that was an extensive burning the savage area was too big. We gave all that we could,” he said.

Thomas added, “We had been monitoring her and treating her. We even resuscitated her. She gained consciousness a bit and was okay the whole day on Friday, but I was called this morning (Saturday) that the woman died.”

On Thursday, a boda-boda rider together with his grandmother were seriously burnt after the motorcycle they were travelling in caught fire.

The motorbike was burnt into ashes.

However, according to the hospital in-charge, the boy who was admitted alongside his grandmother at the hospital is still in critical condition.

“The boy is still in critical condition and we are monitoring him,” he said.
