The Governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, Simon Ober Mawut, on Sunday officially launched the State Roads’ Rehabilitation Initiative, under the theme “Enhancing Roads’ Connectivity and Accessibility to Basic Social Services” in the State.

The project is a joint initiative of the state government and Africa Resources Corporation (ARC), targeting the rehabilitation of roads and instillation of additional culverts along key roads connecting all state counties with Aweil town.

The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment towards finding permanent solutions to the recurring devastating floods across the state.

“The initiative will run concurrently with the ongoing Drainage System Improvement Project in Aweil town aimed at flood control and protecting vital infrastructure,” he said.

Governor Mawut also appreciated ARC company for fulfilling their corporate social responsibility through supporting the people of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State through its willingness to provide technical assistance, further calling upon other companies in the state to emulate the collaborative and good gesture shown by ARC company.

Mawut further urged concerned institutions, local chiefs and community members to join him in supervising the road maintenance exercise to ensure its successful completion
