A high-level delegation of traditional chiefs from Aweil, led by the President of the Regional Court, Sultan Akook Wol Ayony, visited South Sudan National Bureau of Standards (SSNBS) in Juba.

The delegation was received by the Executive Director of SSNBS, Hon. Gloria Nyoka, who welcomed the chiefs and praised their commitment to national development through community leadership and engagement.

During the meeting, Hon. Nyoka highlighted the Bureau’s ongoing efforts to promote quality assurance and safety standards across South Sudan. She emphasized the vital role traditional leaders can play in raising public awareness and ensuring that standards are upheld at the grassroots level.

“The Bureau is committed to working hand-in-hand with community leaders to ensure our standards reach every household and marketplace in South Sudan,” she said.

The visiting chiefs expressed their appreciation for the warm reception and reiterated their readiness to collaborate with the SSNBS. They pledged to support awareness campaigns and mobilize local communities to embrace national standards in areas such as food safety, construction materials, and consumer products.

The meeting marks a step forward in bridging formal institutions and traditional leadership structures to improve quality control and public safety across the country.
